Coverage under Medicare
|
Medicare covers manipulation of the spine if medically necessary to correct a subluxation (when one or more of the bones of your spine moves out of position) when provided by chiropractors or other qualified providers.
A subluxation is a displacement or misalignment of a joint or body part. X-rays or physical therapy provided by chiropractors are not covered.

Important notes

- You must pay an annual $135 (in 2009) deductible for Part B services and supplies before Medicare begins to pay its share.
- Actual amounts you must pay may be higher if a doctor, health care provider, or supplier does not accept assignment.
